With winter upon us proper for the first time in two years, a frigid -22° F is what we awake to to start the new year. Appropriately I needed a winter panorama to round out the fall colors and tropical vistas lately. This one’s actually from four years back on a trip up to the Lake Superior North Shore in winter to Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. You can see the lighthouse towards the far left watching over the menacing Lake Superior in winter. Click here for a larger version of the panorama.
A belated panorama shot from this fall at Whitewater State Park. Click here for a larger version of the panorama.
Another shot from a morning sunrise at Grand Palladium Resort at the Salt Water pool. Click here for a larger version of the panorama.
On the first day of arrival to Grand Palladium Resort we awoke early to catch the sunrise from the southern end of the resort’s beach. Our lodgings were right around the corner. For October hurricane season, the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Click here for a larger version of the panorama.
One of the most picturesque beaches of the Riviera Maya in Mexico is that of Tulum the ancient walled city of the Mayans once seen by Cortez. With the azure Caribbean Sea glistening above the pristine white coral sands this vista was one of the most gorgeous views of our recent vacation. Click here for a larger version of the panorama.
These are two panoramic shots showing the apocalyptic weather we’ve had recently. The top shot is a panorama I snapped last week of the large thunderstorm eventually reaching New York that first rolled over us in Minnesota a few days prior from clear skies to the gates of Voldemort and death eaters spewing forth from the sky. I’ve kept the colors true to form and it was pretty eerie. I was working on my computer to sunny skies when the world went dark in a matter of minutes. The lower picture was from a few years back catching the back end of a storm system at sunset.
Taken yesterday on the last night of our vacation to the North Shore of Lake Superior where we stayed at the Bluefin Bay, I caught this just prior to moonrise from outside our condo’s porch catching the Milky Way arching above a brilliant night sky.
Two panoramas taken from Sage Creek overlook at Badlands National Park, South Dakota taken a few minutes apart at sunset and dusk. These are HDR bracketed photos that are fused and then stitched such that there are actually 5 photos with 3 exposures (15) per panorama taken with a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 lens at wide-angle. Big thunderstorm seen in the horizon and a nice view of the basin with the Badlands seen towards the far left.
