Mikey’s 2nd Birthday
Happy Birthday Mikey! Today we celebrated Michael’s 2nd birthday. I can’t believe how big he has gotten and what a smart cookie he is now- talking up a storm and running around all over the place. He was so excited for his little party today. He wanted to eat his Elmo cupcakes yesterday and we wouldn’t let him. When he woke up this morning and asked for one right away. Dan gave in and gave him one for breakfast. 
We decided to make an afternoon BBQ for his birthday and invite a bunch of our friends over- including ones that had little kids for Mikey to play with as well. I don’t think he’s ever had so many friends over. He loved it and has actually been playing a lot better by himself now that everyone has left. It’s as if he realized he can still play even if mommy and daddy aren’t by his side. I’m loving it. When he was talking on the phone to his grandma I asked him to tell her who came over today. His reply, “Sam…,” and then he thought for a minute and said, “…people.” Guess there were lots of “people” here and he’s still not sure who everyone was. It rained off and on today so it wasn’t quite the outdoor BBQ we were expecting, but was still nice to have a bunch of friends over and enjoy the afternoon. The weather did let up enough so we could still bbq. Dan cooked up a ton of food and as usual it was delicious! Here are a few pictures of him on his special day. He got way too many toys and we’ve been loving playing with them all (thanks everyone).
Just happened to be the closing weekend of Rochesterfest as well (this big celebration here in Rochester). We drove out about 20 minutes to Zumbro Falls, MN to this big carnival event that was going on with a firework show. I pulled up the wrong address and had us driving around this little town, lost for a while. We ended up finding the place and had just enough time to enjoy a funnel cake before the fireworks started. Was an amazing show including a firebomb explosion during the finale. Michael just kept saying, “Fireworks, boom.” He plugged his ears during the whole show but really seemed to enjoy it. We crashed at the end of the day on the sofa watching some tv show together. What an exciting day.
