I've sent back maybe 2 or 3 of those for exchange/return. It does cost me money to ship them back, but I always estimate the risk into the decision to order online. How much is it worth it to me to be able to shop from the house--how far would I have to drive to find what I want--how much hassle is it to load kids into the car--how badly do I need/want the shoes, and how soon--etc. It's up to you, but I've had good success. My most recent success story is a beautiful pair of leather dress boots that I got for $40, reduced from $99! Good luck. I don't know how standard toe shoes are, but if you've always bought the same size, you'd probably be okay ordering online.
